
The fear of another mass casualty in the wake of the Mumbai mayhem seems to have spurred a blind rush to purchase hi-tech gadgets with government agencies and corporates set to spend crores to enhance security measures.
In Thane, the civic body is understood to have promptly sanctioned Rs. 90 lakh to purchase 60 closed circuit televisions, 100 mounting cameras, 14 multi-zone metal detectors, door frame metal detectors, vehicles checking machines among other things. The gadgetry will be installed in the municipal hospitals, auditoriums, ward offices etc.
The terror strike has also compelled many commercial establishments including hotels and cooperative banks in the lake city to consider spending on security systems.
